Honoring the soldiers who fought and
died during the invasion of France on D-Day, the 6th of June 1944.
June 1964 marked the 20th anniversary
of D-Day commemorated by a host of activities. President Johnson
sent a delegation led by General Bradley. Highlight of the events
was a parade through the town with French President Charles De
Gaulle standing on a military troop carrier. Marines from Rota
also participated. With a lot of drill and sweat they marched
and made our presence felt.
